Scars are usually the result of injury. These include a cut, laceration, or burn, stretch marks from pregnancy, weight changes, or incisions due to surgery, or even acne. Scars can be flat, protruded, or both. Scars can be difficult to live without, especially if they are in exposed areas such as the hands or face. This is why many people want to learn how to remove scars. Here are my eight secrets to natural scar removal.
Home Remedies
These home remedies have been proven to be effective in healing scar tissue and reducing its appearance. Vitamin E cream or oil can be applied to scars on a regular basis. Many people report improvement in their scars. Studies show that vitamin E applied directly to scars can slow down their healing process. The vast majority of participants in the study found that vitamin E did not improve scarring or made it worse. In fact, a third of them developed contact dermatitis after receiving vitamin E.
Contrary to popular belief, vitamin E is good for skin and can help fade scarring and marks. It is worth trying it as different people will respond to different treatments. It is safe to experiment with vitamin E oil. If you experience any adverse effects, stop using it immediately.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter is a natural moisturizer. It penetrates deeply into the skin to make it softer and smoother. Cocoa butter is rich in Vitamin E and can help to heal skin, treat scar tissue, and fade discoloration. Cocoa butter is particularly effective in preventing stretch marks during pregnancy if it is applied to the skin several times per day. Use a wet, coarse washcloth to exfoliate the skin. Use a circular motion to massage a generous amount cocoa butter onto the skin.
For best results, repeat this process three times per day for several weeks. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are found in lemon juice, which can help rejuvenate the skin and improve its elasticity. AHA’s can also be used to remove damaged or dead skin cells, allowing new cells to develop. Because of its gentle bleaching action, the juice gradually lightens skin discolorations as well as acne scarring.
Body Cleanse
Cleanse the affected area thoroughly.
- Apply a teaspoonful of lemon juice to the area with a cotton ball. Allow the juice to remain on the skin for a maximum of ten minutes before rinsing with water. Drinking water with lemon juice twice daily over fifteen days can also have a positive impact on skin health. To reduce sun sensitivity, apply sunscreen to skin treated with lemon juice.
- Regular use of raw honey, especially maunka honey with a high UMF factor, is an effective natural moisturizer that can heal and fade scarring and promote skin regeneration. Combine two tablespoons raw honey with two tablespoons baking soda. Massage the mixture into the scars for three minutes. Use a washcloth to clean the skin. Let the washcloth cool completely before you wipe the affected area clean. For best results, repeat the process twice daily. Honey is not recommended for people with oily skin.
- The anti-inflammatory properties in onions help prevent scarring and slow down the formation of collagen. Apply onion juice extract (in gel) to the scars every day. This method takes patience and consistency. Results are usually visible after several months of treatment.
- Aloe Vera’s anti-inflammatory properties soothe and heal the skin, while reducing swelling. It can also be used to remove dead skin cells and reduce irritation. It can also regenerate and fortify new tissues. Aloe Vera can be used in a variety of products, including gels, ointments, and lotions. It is best to apply it in its natural state, unprocessed, two to three times per day. Before removing the gel from an aloe Vera leaf, cut it in half. Apply the gel to the area and massage it in.
- Indian gooseberry (also known as Amia), is rich in vitamin C and can help reduce scar tissue formation if used soon after the initial skin trauma. Indian gooseberry can be used in both a paste or powder form. Mix enough water and Amla powder to create a smooth paste. Apply the paste to the affected area and massage in well.
- Cucumber paste, which can be bought or made at home, helps to soften scarred skin. Cucumbers are easy to find, affordable, and non-irritating. Place a slice of cucumber, or cucumber juice, directly on the scar. Mix the mixture and leave it on the skin for 20 minutes. Rinse the skin and dry it thoroughly. For best results, repeat this process several times per week.
- Tea tree oil’s anti-bacterial properties help to gradually remove scarring from surgery and acne. To make a rinse, combine warm water with a few drops tea tree oil. Apply the rinse to the affected skin. Then, wash it off with warm water and dry with a towel. Warning: Tea tree oil’s antibacterial compounds may cause a tingling and/or tingling sensation. To reduce the potency of tea tree oil and to minimize skin irritation, dilute it with water. If the sensation persists, do a patch test and consult a dermatologist immediately.
