Sinus infection can make you dependent upon pills, inhalers, or even steroid cream. Sinus infection can lead to addiction. You might feel restricted in your ability to breathe due to sinus infection. For some, it may even be painful. You don’t have to suffer with this discomfort. Instead, look for home remedies for sinus infections.

    Home Remedies

There are safer home remedies that you can try.

    • Garlic. Garlic has antiviral, antibacterial and inexpensive ways to treat sinus infections. To relieve your sinus infection, take two cloves of garlic thrice daily for a week. Garlic can cause bad breath. To reduce this, you can combine it with tarragon and parsley. Garlic can also be used as a sandwich spread.
    • Echinacea. This will boost your immune system and make you less susceptible to infection. Take 2.5 ml of Echinacea in a glass of orange juice, or water. Continue to drink the tincture for two to three days until the infection disappears. The tincture can be purchased at your local pharmacy.
    • Honeycaps. These honeycaps can be chewed to treat your sinus infection. They taste sweet because they are made from honeycombs. Honey is well-known for its health-protecting properties, including its antimicrobial, antibacterial and antiseptic properties, antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.
    • Apple cider vinegar. You can make an apple cider vinegar solution by adding a tablespoon to a glass of water. It can be taken three to four times per day, within a period of four to six days. You can also replace your addictive inhaler with the bottle containing the vinegar. The vapor from the bottle can be inhaled to open your sinuses. To avoid damaging your mucus membrane, you should use it in moderation.
    • Hot compress. Hot compress can be soaked in aromatic oils and hot water. You can also use black mustard or ginger in place of the oils. All of these can decongest your airways to allow normal breathing.
    • Steam inhalation. This can relieve sinus congestion and reduce pain.
