Migraine headaches can occur when chemicals are released into nerve fibers and blood vessels expand. This type of headache can make it difficult to go about your day. Migraine headaches can cause severe pain, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, blurred sight, diarrhea, and cold feet. Both young and old can suffer from migraine headaches. This type of headache is most common in people under 40 years old and those with a family history.

    Hormonal Changes

Women are more likely to suffer from migraines due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstruation and menopause. Migraine headaches can be caused by many different factors. Migraine headaches can be unpredictable so it is impossible to predict when you will experience them. There are things you can do that will reduce your risk. Keep a diary or a journal to record the events that lead to migraines.

This will help you pinpoint the triggers for your headaches. Are headaches caused by a glass of wine or a lack of breakfast? Once you know the triggers, you can avoid them in future. Migraine headaches are more common when you don’t get enough sleep. You should aim to get seven to eight hours sleep each night.

    Remember

Children need more sleep. Don’t sleep too long, as too much can trigger migraine headaches. Your body’s ability manage stress is improved by exercising and eating right. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet.

Drink plenty of water to maintain a healthy body. You should aim to do at least one hour of moderate exercise each day. You can combine walking, biking, running, yoga, Pilates, swimming and aerobics into your workout routine.

    Be Aware

Migraine headaches can be caused by foods that contain aspartame (nitrates), monosodium glutamate(MSG), and triamine. Mild migraines can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. However, more severe pain may require prescription pain relievers and abortive medication.

These medications will be prescribed by your doctor depending on your specific situation. Severe headaches are not common, but can be caused by serious conditions like meningitis, aneurism, or tumors in the brain. If your migraines persist or are accompanied by vision or speech problems, consult a doctor immediately.
