    Let’s see…

Women in the age group of 40’s to 60’s are more prone to this disorder compared to men. The signs of the disorder can develop slowly. There’s no specific treatment for this disorder, but there are times when the symptoms dissolve, but the general condition is still the same. The precise cause for this disease remains under the wraps.

However, the scientists have discovered similarities between Dermatomyositis and other autoimmune disorders, in which individual’s own immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells of the body. This then leads to compromised immune system and individuals with this disorder are prone to fell sick.

    Stress

Constant Stress and skin rashes are a number of the indicator of the disease. Other school of thought considers that this inflammation is caused by a parasite, virus or germs or it may be a hereditary disorder. It’s an inflammatory autoimmune disease that causes muscle ripping and general destruction of the cells. With passing of time, the muscles become weaker and ruined muscles are further substituted with a thick scar tissue that obstructs normal functioning of the body and contributes to overgrowth of the muscles.

Discolouration of the skin – When someone suffers from this disorder a violet colored red rash is visible on the skin and is most commonly seen on the face, eyelids, around the nails, knuckles, back and torso.

Muscle fatigue – As the disease develops there is an incidence of muscle fatigue. The muscles close to the back, upper arms and backs become affected. The weakness affects both the surfaces of the body and worsens with time. This disease can be readily diagnosed by the physician because the issue is associated with the skin rash. If a rash isn’t accompanied by muscle tenderness then the physician may diagnose it as amyopathic Dermatomyositis.

    • Electromyography – In this test, the impulses that control the muscles is listed to obtain an accurate status.
    • Blood Test – The blood test finds out the degree of extra antibodies and muscle enzymes within the body.
    • Muscle Biopsy – Muscle Biopsy is a test that detects any incidence of muscle inflammation.
    • Skin Biopsy – In this biopsy the system will reveal the way the skin sample reacts to various muscle changes. As stated there is no particular treatment of this disorder, but continuous medical treatment may improve overall performance of the skin. Prompt treatment further reduces the incidence of health complications.
    • Corticosteroids – This medicine slows down the reaction of immune system which ultimately reduces the excessive quantity of inflammation inducing antibodies. The health care provider will begin from high dose and with passage of time that he will reduce the same. It may be in form of a pill or pill. Medicines such as Azasan and methotrexate can be given by the physician to cut back further medical complication.
    • Other drugs – If corticosteroid does not help to improve the situation that the physician might prescribe different medicines like intravenous immunoglobulin also known as IVIG and corticosteroid sparing medication. This medicine entails transferring of healthy body cells into the patient. This therapy is similar to blood donation wherein a fresh extract is given after six to eight weeks.
