There are many home remedies that can be used to get rid of warts. Warts are very common and can be caused by a viral infection that affects the outermost layer or mucous membranes. Most cases occur in older children who have the virus entered their skin through a cut. The warts can manifest in the skin over a period of one to eight months. They spread as the skin is scratched or rubbed.

    Warts

It is not unusual for warts spread from one area of the body to another, and may reappear after treatment. However, most warts don’t spread to other people and are generally harmless. Genital warts, which can be sexually transmitted, are an exception. Warts can range in size from two to ten micrometers.

They are usually firm and flesh-coloured, have clear borders, and are usually between two and ten micrometers in diameter.

    • Common warts. They are often round, flesh-coloured and hard on the hands and knees.
    • Plantar warts. These are a variant of common warts and can be found on the soles or feet. They are usually painful.
    • Flat warts. These flat-topped, flesh-coloured warts are most commonly found on the backs, wrists, and face.
    • Filiform warts. These are long and slim and can be found on the necks of overweight middle-aged people.
    • Digitate warts. These are dark-coloured warts with finger-like projections.
    • The genital warts, which are pink-coloured and shaped like a cauliflower, can be found in the genitalia.

    Treatments

There are many traditional and alternate treatments for warts. Alternative treatments not only target the virus, but also aim at strengthening the immune system with proper diet and supplements. Warts can be difficult to remove and may require two months of careful therapy. Genital warts should be treated immediately as they could become a precursor to cervical cancer.

    • Apply a garlic clove directly to the area. Be careful not to touch the surrounding skin. Place a bandage over the affected area and leave it in place for 24hrs. After a week, the wart should begin to fall off. Blisters should start to develop.
    • Apply the paste made from castor oil and baking soda to the wart.Cover the wart with the paste each night with a bandage. The wart will disappear in about 3-6 weeks.
    • Place the banana skin’s inner side against the wart and secure it with a bandage. Keep replacing the banana skin until the wart disappears.
    • If you have a nearby willow tree, cut a piece of bark to attach the moist inner edge to the wart. Every day, replace bark. Willow contains large amounts of salicylic acids, which are often used to treat warts. This remedy may be useful for plantar warts.
    • You can cut a square of pineapple peel, and then tape the inner side to plantarwarts overnight. The pineapple’s proteolytic enzymes help to dissolve warts. After removing the peel, soak your feet in warm water for at least 30 minutes. Then, dry the foot with a clean towel. Repeat the process nightly if necessary.
